With spring now on our doorstep does your bathroom feel like it’s still stuck in with the winter blues? Well why not have a spring clean to transform and refresh your bathroom. Bathrooms are the hardest room to clean in the house – The Bathroom is not a room where you can simply pick up the mess in a 5 minute job.
Clickoak is here to help, we have come up with top tips to make your life much easier as we know what it is like to not have much time on your hands.
So here are our easy top tips on making your bathroom ready for spring.....
- Have an action plan – know what you want to do and how you want to do it first- sometimes if cleaning is a big task it can be too much, so you end up putting it off. However if you have it broken down and pin pointed then the things to do will not seem like such a daunting task.
- Have the right supplies- before you commence any cleaning duties make sure you have everything you will need before you start. The last thing you need is to have to nip out and get cleaning products half way through. (also this may distract you from completing your task before you know it your bathroom will be the last thing on your mind)
- Tackle your washing first – Make sure your laundry basket is empty and washing is out of the way.
- Remove all rubbish or empty bottles of shampoo or shower gel, make sure nothing is on the floor unless it should be.
- If you have blinds or curtains - make sure you take down and wash your curtains or blinds you will be surprised how much dust gathers in winter.
- Grab your washing up gloves – Start with your sink- you can either use a type of bathroom detergent and a wipe or use anti bacterial wipes – wipe down your sink and the area around till there is no dirt or marks left.
- Bath or shower – after doing your sink the next big obstacle is your shower or bath, again depending on what you normally use wipe your bath or shower down with detergent or wipes – if using detergent always leave it on for a few minutes to let it sink in – this can help get off the tougher stains – rinse and wipe off for a sparkly nice and clean bath or shower.
- Tackle your toilet – wipe round the toilet with anti bacterial wipes making sure you are cleaning off any dust or germs, clean until all marks are removed and toilet is nice and clean. I always put bleach or de-scalier around the rim to make sure there is no scale hidden as this can be a real pain to get rid of and also makes your toilet look very unattractive. Remember to wipe the outsides of the toilet too.
- If you have a cabinet remove all items and wipe your cabinet down- while you are there double check that there is nothing empty or needs chucking away or replacing – this is your prime opportunity to check.
- Make your Mirror shine – using either a little bit of vinegar or glass cleaner wipe over your mirror to remove any dust or smudge marks.
- Return any items that do not belong in the bathroom to where they belong
- If you have a Bathroom mat – either wash it or replace it with a new one why not go a summer colour to add that touch of spring.
- Make your floor shine – Hoover your floor to make sure any dust or hair is removed leaving it all nice and clean. If you have tiles or a flooring that you can wash - put some anti bacterial detergent in a bucket and mop your floor- making your floor lovely and fresh.
- Why not add an air freshener to the room – this will help keep your room smelling nice and keep odours away. Be careful what kind of air freshener you go for- try a subtle one that does not over power.
